About Darien
Born abroad and raised in Texas, Darien has always balanced a taste for adventure and an entrepreneurial spirit with a cautious eye toward risk management. As the oldest of five, she has been project managing since childhood. Darien met her sweetheart, Joe, at the age of 19. They married in 1995, and they have three children.
When her oldest child was born, Darien put her theatrical costume design experience to use and created a stylish, functional baby carrier that turned heads. Recognizing a market need, she launched ZoloWear in 2001, growing it from her kitchen table in Austin into an internationally recognized brand. She built a thriving business with the core purpose of bringing new parents and babies together, beautifully. She secured national media coverage and played a role in shaping industry safety standards before selling the company in 2009.

After relocating to Colorado immediately therafter, Darien and Joe co-founded Volare Software, a successful custom software consultancy working with enterprise clients across the U.S.
Alongside running her businesses, Darien has always been deeply involved in public service, advocacy, and volunteer leadership. She worked with organizations to refine their messaging, grow their audiences, and develop strategic plans aligned with their values.

In 2021, the Wilsons took on a new adventure, moving to the Netherlands and establishing Volare Software B.V. During this transition, Darien shared her story on TikTok as DarienGoesDutch. Her content resonated, and the account quickly grew to over 50,000 followers.
Once she recovered from the shock of moving abroad in midlife, Darien turned her expertise toward helping others navigate the same complex waters. Today, she helps internationals find their perfect home in the Netherlands with Dutch Home Hunters, and also offers relocation consulting, business coaching, and strategic advisory services. She helps others gain clarity, direction, and actionable plans for making their international move a success.
Having been through the process herself, Darien understands both the excitement and the challenges of starting fresh in a new country. Her mission is to help others move forward with confidence, ensuring they make informed decisions that align with their goals and values.
